Thanksgiving 2010

The adorable place settings made by Nellie and Cath.

I love Thanksgiving.  I love the smell of freshly baked rolls mingled with steaming turkey and pumpkin pie.  I love how everyone lounges around all day, eats for an hour, and then lounges some more.  However, this Thanksgiving was slightly tragic as I couldn't gorge myself the way I love to, but I did pray to keep my meal down and the Lord allowed that delicious turkey goodness to stay put in my belly! :)

We were so happy to finally tell our families our big news via the "Grateful Book" I made semi-secretly.  It was so much fun to go through each scrapbook page and read what the family members were grateful for and when we got to ours, I got nervous for some reason and shy right before I said, "And we're most grateful for our baby on the way!"  There were several gasps, an "I knew it!" and hugs and congrats all around.  I loved how Burke couldn't quite grinning.  It was a sweet moment.

The next morning my sister-in-laws and I ventured out at 4 AM for my first experience as a crazy Black Friday shopper.  We drove to Cedar City from Parowan and actually had a great time together.  There were definitely a lot of people out, but everyone was cheerful and helpful and we all scored some amazing deals.  Hello, can you say HP Printer/Scanner/Copier for TWENTY dollars?!?!  I was stoked.  The only downer was that I threw up three times, in two parking lots.  It was actually quite humorous because each time I had no where else to go and I got my poor sis-in-law, Kristen, dry heaving on the first unexpected round of yacking. Pretty hilarious!

That afternoon I was stoked to join the Adams family on their annual Christmas tree hunt at Co-Op Valley.  I was really looking forward to picking out our own tree, especially because I've never cut a tree and I LOVE the smell of a real tree.  Sadly, the snow was awful on the drive up the mountain.  As we rounded one particularly dangerous bend, there were several trucks stuck up ahead, trying to avoid sliding off the side of the road.  It took us about 45 minutes to get everyone turned back around and we decided it was not worth it to risk getting stuck in a snowbank for a tree!  Hopefully next year we'll make it up the mountain.

We were sad to leave the Adams family, but happy to join my parents and sister in St. George for a round of Thanksgiving Weekend golf.  It was a little chilly, but it turned out to be a beautiful day and I must admit, I played some pretty good golf!  Reality hit after our lovely break on Monday with a final project due that I had completely forgotten about.  Nice one, Em.  Good thing Christmas is just around the corner, cause I am plain burnt out!
