42 Hours of Fun!
This past weekend Burke made the 6 hour trek up to Logan to visit me and the fam for the weekend. We only had 42 hours to spend together (14 of those spent sleeping), but we made the most of every minute! He pulled into Logan around 9 o'clock Friday night and we ventured out into the glamorous Logan night life. We bowled a round at Logan Lanes with an impressive score of 152 for El Jefe and an even more respectable 66 from El Fuego, followed by a competitive game of air hockey and Big Buck Hunter arcade game that frustrated our real life hunter to no end (this gun is a piece!).
The next day the snow was sparkling in the sunlight and the skies were a clear cloudless blue; a perfect day for skiing! Daddy, Burke and I were some of the first to hit the slopes at Beaver Mountain. It had been two years since Burke had been snowboarding, his first time in the daylight and 4th time total. You would have been impressed to see his determination and positive attitude with so little experience. He really did a great job, but after another big spill about an hour after lunch he pulled up and said in a very matter of fact tone, "Welp, I'm done." :) Burkie sure knows his limits!
Here we are attempting to snap a photo on the mountain...it was a lot steeper than it looks!
Dad outlasted us on the mountain by an hour. So much for being young and fit! As we loaded up to return home, we realized Burke had never seen Bear Lake and we had never seen it during the winter months. We took the 15 minute detour north and arrived at the peek of the mountain to a stunning view of the lake and the snow capped mountains surrounding it. What a sight! The only thing that could have possibly made it better would have been a Labeau's Raspberry shake! Mmmmm...it makes me really look forward to playing at Bear Lake this summer with you all!
The rest of the visit passed far too quickly spent enjoying each others company while trying not to make any sudden movements and wince in pain at our sore bodies (I say our sore bodies to make Burke feel better...he was one bruised little man!). The long distance thing sure is stinky, but it makes me appreciate the days and hours that we do get to spend together, no matter how short the visit! Thanks for a wonderful weekend Burkie and BushBunch! I sure love you!
