Brett's Homecoming

On Thursday, April 16, Burke's baby brother, Brett, returned from his successful two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Columbia, South Carolina.  The Adams family (minus Kellie and Wes) all traveled to the Salt Lake City Airport to be there to welcome him home.

As the family milled around anxiously by the baggage claims, dozens of other missionary welcoming groups kept their eyes glued to the top of the escalator waiting to see their heart walk back into sight after two long years having it on the other side of the country or even the world!

I was so touched when an airport worker came to the foot of the escalator and asked for all of the missionary moms to come forward, placing them strategically so they would be the first people the missionaries would see as they descended.  It was so tender to me to watch Marie mingling with the other moms, her heart appeared to be racing and her eyes were already moist.

When we finally spied Brett's fluffy head peaking around the corner at the top of the escalator you would have thought a boy band had come into view what with all the screaming and cat calling that drowned out all announcements from the airport intercom system.  He pressed his hands to his mouth in disbelief and rode down in glory!

Four successful missions served for four Adams sons!

The Mission Watch - gifted to Burke in Texas, passed to Kevin in Washington and still alive and well after Brett's time in South Carolina and nearly 15 years!

The adorable sign Danelle made for all the new members of the family Brett missed meeting while on the mission: Collin, Brady (Krissy's husband), Darcie and Blake.

We are so proud of you Bretty for your two years of hard work and sacrifice!

I made a little video with some South Carolina Baptist music (haha!) because you really do need to see how tender Brett's reaction was when he looked down the escalator and caught a glimpse of the family screaming out his name!  Chokes me up every time.
