The Tire Swing

In April, Burke was a darling and made a tire swing to hang from our big tree out back.  The previous owners took their swing with them (rats!) and  I had been anxious to put another one up since we had moved in.  Our neighbor Brent Hunter was kind enough to bring his telehandler over to lift Burke up to the desired limb and secure it with a chain so he wouldn't have to climb the dangerous branch and risk falling.

We have had so much fun on that tire swing!  The chain is about 18 feet long, so you can get quite the pendulum of motion going.  One night Kevin and Danelle spent the night at our house and the next morning will forever be cemented in my memory as Burke and Kevin took turns pushing each other Wheel-of-Fortune style and laughing their heads off.

It's such a fun new feature to the yard so there is something for the little ones to play on when they come.  In May we had the Adams family over and had 6 of the little girls on at once!  They were loving it!

At first, Daphne would get really nervous after just a few small pushes and say, "Too high!  Too high!"  But after watching her cousin Hallie reach for the sky, she has become much more adventurous and will even request an underdog now, laughing with delight when she gets high enough to see our faces through the bottom hole and shout, "Hello down there!"  It sure makes for a picturesque summer to glide back and forth bellow green leaves and enjoy the rush of a warm wind.  Come swing with us!
