Sledding
While the menfolk hit up Beaver Mountain on New Years Eve, we took the kiddos sledding. The only problem was, with my Dad up at the Beav, none of us could find his hiding place in the shed for the tubes. So...we improvised! Our sledding gear consisted of one actual sled, trash bags (yup...trash bags) and the yellow plastic treasure chest lid that I remember from when we were wee ones (which Cassie did NOT ask my Mom for permission to use before we left just FYI). So, with our super ghetto sleds this could have potentially been a really disappointing experience, but it actually turned out great! The kids were awesome about taking turns with the real sled and Kaleo professed to enjoy the trash bags the best - what a kid!
Daphne and Millie were perfectly content to scoot around on their bums as evidenced by this video. (Side note: why is it that every time I narrate a video I'm doing baby talk or I sound like I'm shouting? Hmmm...sounds like I need to work on my volume and inflection)
As we live in the sunny south, we really have no need for snow clothes. Many thanks to the Murphys for letting us borrow Maia's snow suit and boots while she napped. Daphne was cracking me up as she waddled around in a Randy-esque (think Christmas story) manner.
Then Burke called to say he and Gabe were on their way back from the ski slopes and got to witness her cuteness all for himself. We headed home and later heard the best part about this story. Right as Cassie was about to leave with the treasure chest lid under her arm, April asked to borrow it for one more go. When she got to the bottom she cried out in disbelief, "Oh NO!" and held up the lid which now sported a massive hole in the middle! This is hilarious on several levels. #1 - Because things like this ALWAYS happen to April! (This is the sister who pulled her bosses computer off the desk on accident on her first day of work and it shattered with all of the company information on it!) And #2 - Because just the night before Mom had teased about how sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission, which Cassie had quoted on our way to the sledding hill! Thankfully, Mom was forgiving and we all had a good laugh, except for April who just rolled her eyes and continued to profess that these things only ever happen to her!
