Ten to One

As many of you might remember, Daphne is the tenth straight granddaughter on the Adams family side.  When Burke and I were first married, he would pump his fist in excitement every time his siblings had another baby girl and joke, "We're still in the running!"  We all wondered when there would finally be a little man to carry on the family name and in December when Kevin and Danelle announced they were pregnant with an XY chromosome, we finally knew he was on his way!

Luke Alan Adams - grandson number one

All week we've been anxiously awaiting the news and on Friday morning, the long-awaited picture text of Grandson #1's face showed up on our phones.  It was a sweet moment as Burke and I delighted over his perfect face (in my opinion an exact replica of beautiful big sister Hallie) and Burke said tenderly, "Oh little buddy.  We've waited such a long time for you!"

And it's true!  With our oldest niece Lauren almost 13, this sweet baby's arrival has been anticipated for many years. We were so pleased to be able to drive to St. George on Friday to welcome Luke Alan into the family and marvel over his less-than-24-hour perfection.  It was shocking to see how huge Daphne looked next to him and to be reminded of how much she has grown.  Danelle looked fantastic and it is obvious their little family is a bit more complete now that Luke has arrived.

What a treat it will be to watch him grow and to have so many doting female cousins to mother him and make him play house and dress-ups at the reunions!  He is definitely out numbered, but never fear Luke - grandson #2 is on his way in June and if LeeAnn has a boy as well in July, we might be dealing with a brood of boys in no time!
