Easter Saturday 2013

Such a fantastic Easter weekend.  To kick off the holiday, we joined with hundreds of other families at Vernon Worthen Park in St. George for a community Easter Egg Hunt.  I've never ever been to one before and it was a mad house, but still a lot of fun, especially since we were there with the Chev/Nellie, Cath/Mat and Ever/Kelsey families.

Can you tell Daphne was just a wee bit excited to see her cousins?  In the last couple of weeks she has adapted this hilarious cheeser any time we ask her to smile for the camera.  Burke says it's a Bush trait because apparently all of us Bush women cheese it up anytime a camera makes an appearance.  Ha!

Daph was cracking me up.  She had no idea what to do when all the kids went wild and charged through the perimeter to get as many treats as possible.  My goal was for her to just get one egg, so I took her to a less crowded spot and pointed out a couple of treats.  She managed to get a few taffys and a sucker and then stood poised over two eggs, just squatting over them and staring like, "What now?"  Right as she bent down to pick it up some kid came and snatched it out from under her outstretched fingers!  Poor thing!  So we turned our attention to the next egg and the same thing happened again, but luckily the Dad heard me say, "Oh no!" and had the kid put it back.  Daphne was so triumphant as she carried her little solo orange egg around in her basket.

There was this jolly old guy speed walking through the park with eggs and candy to hand out that of course we had to get a picture with, mostly because we were dying laughing at his ghetto get-up.  Can you blame Daph for not wanting to get in a picture with him?  And Burke's raised eyebrows in the background as he scrutinized the guy is hilarious as well!

As we stood around visiting after the egg hunt and the crowd began to disperse, a family near us started blowing bubbles and the kids were in heaven chasing them around!

I love this picture of Eden chasing that perfectly round bubble and Levi's look of amazement as he watches.

Then I got this series of Levi and Daphne in a mini love story.  Doesn't it look like he's trying to propose and then he gets turned down?  Too cute.

On our way to the car after the hunt we saw a yard that had a dozen or more giant bunnies.  Daphne was so excited about them and I was too - especially seeing that it was Easter weekend!  We had a delicious breakfast at The Black Bear with the Gonzaleses, then ran a few errands before driving up to Parowan in the early afternoon where we had another egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

This time Daphne was a lot more confident in her hunting.

After the egg hunt we stayed outside for a couple of hours just enjoying the beautiful weather by flying kites, playing a game of kickball, riding down the zip line, playing tag and just sitting around visiting.

Whimsical shot of Hallie - I love the pop of red.

At one point we had 4 kites in air!
