52 Dates: #12 - Cheer Review (Plus Weekend Recap)

We had such a great time with Mike, LeeAnn and the girls this weekend.  They got here late Friday night and we started things off right by staying up late talking, which is probably my favorite part about any one-on-one visit with siblings - all that precious, uninterrupted, late night talking time.

The girls were so cute with Daphne and squabbled over who got to hold her, or feed her, or sit next to her in the car the whole weekend.  She was loving all the attention and I was loving all the quality time with my darling nieces.  I'm amazed at how well behaved and smart these girls are, but also by how different they are from each other personality wise.  Sadie is definitely "The Chief", creative, protective, and a born leader.  Macie is absolutely angelic, constantly wanting to help, and her nickname of "The Buddy" suits her perfectly.  While Laynee, "The Lounger", is an absolute hoot with her potbelly and lisp, doing just about anything to get a laugh out of us.  Aren't they beauties?

We played at the park, went to a garage sale (where LeeAnn scored a sweet leather jacket for 5 bucks and I hauled away a bunch of shirts for a buck a piece! Tell me I'm not the only one who loves garage sales?!), watched "Horton Hears a Who", hung out with the Hughes cousins a bit, gorged ourselves on cheese and chocolate fondue, and went to support Jennifer Hughes (Mesquite's head cheerleading coach) and the cousins in the Cheer Review.  Daphne was so excited by the crowded gym, the lights, the music and especially the dancing.  She clapped and hollered during each number to the delight of all those around her.

My personal favorite were the guest performers, "The Mesquite-toes", a group of tap-dancing ladies in their SEVENTIES who were adorned in sequined flapper gowns and calf-hugging, silver, go-go boots.  Hilarious.

I was sad to see the "other Adams family" leave on Sunday afternoon, but so glad they made the trip to see us.  We are so blessed to be able to count our siblings not only as family, but dear friends.
