52 Dates: #9 - Swimming

On Friday Burke and I took Daphne swimming for her first time for date night.  Burke gave her a baby floaty for Valentines and Danelle lent us Hallie's swimsuit a couple of weeks ago, so we decided it was high time to try them out.  I think we were more excited than she was, but it was so fun to watch her stare around in wonder at the water bobbing around her.

We played together as a family and then took turns swimming laps.  Daphne's front stroke was pretty impressive. ;)  I forgot how incredible a swimming workout can be!  It works your entire body and after just a few lengths of the pool I was panting for air.  I'm definitely going to use the pool for exercise more often now that we have a family pass to the rec center.

After coming home and cleaning up, we went to dinner at a little place down the road called "Bella's" and were quite disappointed in our calzones - we'll try the pasta next time.  Finally the evening was finished up with the last chapter of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" followed by the film once we put Daphne to bed.

Favorites from book two include: the hilariously despicable Gilderoy Lockhart ("Celebrity is as celebrity does Harry, remember that."), Ron and Harry using Polyjuice Potion to turn into Crabbe and Goyle, Fawkes bursting into flames to Harry's horror after being in the wrong place at the wrong time so many times already, and Dumbledore's terrific counsel, "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."  Two parts of the book I would have loved to see in the movie would be Sir Nicholas's Deathday Party and the dwarfs dressed as cupids on Valentines Day.  On to the third book in March!

How fun! What a cute little swimmer. I can't wait until it warms up here so we can go swimming! I LOVE Harry Potter, and you have made me want to read the books all over again!

Taking Andy swimming tonight... hopefully it is a hit. And I totally agree about the things you would have loved to see in the Harry Potter movie. Those would have been great!
