52 Dates: #2 - The Car Show

This past weekend Burke planned date night, but since Daphne was a little sick on Friday, it turned into date "day" on Saturday with a family run followed by a trip to the car show being hosted here in sunny Mesquite.  It was free-ninety-free to get in (yes! we all know I love things that are free) and we loved getting out in the afternoon sunshine to check out the wide variety of shiny old cars.  It probably would have been even better if either of us knew much about cars, but we enjoyed perusing the couple hundred autos nonetheless.  To make it a little more interesting, Burke and I each had a camera and were to take pictures of three categories: The Ugliest Car, The Coolest Car, and the Car-You-Would-Actually-Want-To-Drive.  We took pictures of lots of cars to throw each other off our actual picks and when our outing was over, we compared.

Ugliest

I couldn't make up my mind, so I picked three.  Rust Bucket Jalopy, Pepto Bismol Pink/Maroon Combo and Orange Flames.  They speak for themselves.  Burke's choice was The Grey Wonder.

Coolest

I just love how shiny they all are and we got a kick out of the pink panther stuffed animals driving the dream machine.  Plus, that aqua truck is just all sorts of lovely.

Car You Would Drive

These slick sports cars are obviously out of our galaxy of potential cars to own, but it was fun to imagine ourselves behind the wheels either way.  I also got a kick out of imagining either of us short stacks attempting to drive the above motorcycle as well.

We finished our lovely date day by giving Burke a well needed hair cut, making a delicious corn chowder and going to the adult session of Stake Conference where Elder Chea (spelling?) and his wife gave wonderful talks tied into their native Korean culture and even gave a wonderful analogy about kimchi that had the audience in laughs more than once.

I'm in charge of date night tonight and excited to do something I know my Burkie will love.  What are YOU doing with your hubs/significant other/friends tonight?  Yeah for Fridays!
